Core Classification and Characteristics of Conveyors

Belt conveyor
Structure: Composed of a conveyor belt, drive unit, drums, idlers, tensioning device, and other components.
Features: large conveying capacity, low energy consumption, smooth operation, and the ability to convey materials over long distances either horizontally or at an incline; suitable for bulk materials (such as coal and ore) as well as small items.
Applications: Over 70% of use is in mining, port operations, metallurgy, and building materials industries; for example, a coal mine in Shanxi Province operates a 10-kilometer steel-cord-core belt conveyor with an annual throughput of 20 million tonnes.
Technology trends: Nanocomposite conveyor belts boast a service life exceeding 10 years, while solar-powered and AI-driven operations and maintenance systems are steadily gaining traction.
Roller conveyor
Structure: Goods are conveyed by the rotation of rollers, which are classified into powered rollers and non-powered rollers.
Features: simple structure, easy maintenance, suitable for horizontal conveying, and commonly used in production lines, warehouses, and other facilities.
Applications: Conveyance of unit loads such as luggage and pallets; capable of withstanding substantial impact loads.
Screw Conveyor
Structure: Material is conveyed by the rotation of helical blades, offering excellent sealing and a compact design.
Features: Suitable for powdery and granular materials (such as cement and grain), and can be used for horizontal or inclined conveying.
Applications: building materials, chemical processing, grain processing, and other industries. For example, the GX-type screw conveyor, commonly known as a “screw auger,” is a widely used piece of equipment in the grain and oil, feed, and related industries.
Chain conveyor
Structure: Conveyed by a chain drive, offering strong load-carrying capacity and high transmission efficiency.
Features: Suitable for heavy, bulky items (such as metal parts and large packaged goods).
Applications: automotive manufacturing, metallurgy, and other fields, with accuracy up to ±1 mm.
Bucket elevator
Structure: Material is scooped up from the hopper and lifted vertically or conveyed at a steep incline.
Features: Suitable for the vertical conveying of granular and powdered materials, such as grain and cement.
Applications: grain processing, cement production, and other industries; lifting height can reach several tens of meters.
